7C Science is a mix of talk, demonstrations, and labs to investigate the world we live in. Class discussion is important to understanding what we are studying Question and answer sessions are the heart of those discussions.
I will try to post an agenda for each unit on this blog. It will include information on what we are studying and important dates for projects and tests.
Materials: Pencils, colored pencils, spiral notebook, pocket folder, book cover.
Quizzes and Tests: There will be periodic quizzes, usually on Fridays. These quizzes are designed to see if you did the work that leads to understanding what we have done in class. Most quizzes are worth 10 points.
Unit tests are worth 30 points and test to see if you understand the material as outlined by the standards established by the state of Nebraska.
A CRT at the end of each semester tests long-term retention of the information presented throughout the semester. CRTs make up 20% of the final grade.
This blog will have links to on-line test reviews. There are some examples from last year on the right side of this page.
Homework, Projects: There will be 2 to 3 homework assignments per week. Homework assignments are worth 5 to 10 points.
There are 2 or 3 projects for most units. Projects vary according to what we are learning. Projects are worth 25 to 50 points.
Textbook: Holt Science and Technology Short Courses. There is an on-line version of these books. We will provide the information for accessing the text after school begins.
Classroom Rules: Be Nice. Work hard. Follow instructions.
