Welcome

Welcome to the 7C Science web page at Fremont Middle School for the 2015-2016 school year. We will study a variety of science topics. Topics include: the atmosphere and weather, sound and light, cells, heredity, and how science asks and answers questions.

Use this page for periodic updates on what we are doing, information on class projects, and to get to online reviews for tests and quizzes.

Posts from previous years are saved. They can give you an idea of what we do.

Here's what you'll be doing to start the year in Science

We start the year by explaining how scientists learn about the world we live in. You will learn by doing the Plant Project. Just like scientists, you'll make observations, ask questions, conduct an experiment, and use the tools of science. It will probably take about 3 weeks to cover everything. The unit test should be in the week of Sept. 12.
In the plant Plant Project you will:
  • Measure soil, count and plant seeds
  • Measure and track the volume of water used
  • Observe, measure, and record plant growth
  • Identify dependent variables
  • Establish and manipulate independent variables to test an hypothesis
  • Compare and analyze results
  • Communicate results and conclusions
Key Vocabulary: scientific method, hypothesis, controlled experiment, independent variable, dependent variable, control group, experimental group, constant, meter, volume, mass, temperature, area, density
